| Abstract: | Four stratigraphic types of the barrier-lagoon systems established from study of the coastal zones of China are namely transgressive type, regressive type,stationary type and locally transgressive type. They are suitable for the understanding of the conterparts of the coastal zones and continental shelves in Black Sea, Atlantic Margin of North America and SE Australia, and also for sub-divisions of some Paleozoic analogues in Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia Provinces. Some new facies assemblages and transitions from one to another type of barrier-lagoon systems have been created due to longterm tectonic subsidence, sea level fluctuation and changes of sediment input. |
