| Abstract: | It is for the sake of enhancing intercultural communications that a comprehensive discussion is attempted on the treatment of Chinese cultural background factors in Chinese-English translation and a basic principle to be followed in the course of intercultural translation is proposed,i.e.,conveying the original meaning of the source language text,while retaining the source cultural specifics. |
