评吴凤鸣的新作《世界地质学史(国外部分)》

１９９６年出版的吴凤鸣先生所撰《世界地质学史（国外部分）》一书是一本优秀的外国地质学史专著。该文从３个方面对这本专著进行了评价：（１）文献丰富，其中外文文献占８３％，并且附有效多的表格和插图；（２）对许多地质学史理论问题进行了探索，发表了一些新颖的观点：（３）厚令薄古，为教育服务。

REVIEW ON WU FENGMING'S RECENT WORK A HISTORY OF GEOLOGY IN THE WORLD(PART ON FOREIGH COUNTRIES)

Written by Mr. Wu Fengming and publish in 1996 , A history of Geology in the World (Part on Foreign Countries) is an exemplary work on the history of foreign ge- ology. This paper reviews the work from three respects. (1) The work makes use of a vast quantity of documents , of which 83 per cent are foreign ones , and is attached with lots of ta- bles and figures. (2) It probes into many problems about the theory of hitory of geology , and puts for ward some original views. (3) It stresses the present , not the past , and serves educa- tion .
