| Abstract: | In this paper, the velocity profile of pulsatile flow in a rectangular pipe is obtained. Analytical expressions of flow rate, longitudinal impedance and wall shear stress are derived. The relationships between each quantity and pulsatile frequency and the dimensions of rectangular cross section is analysed. A theoretical basis is set for designing biological reactor or using rectangular pipe to study the influence of pulsatile flow on the properties of cell. |
