| Abstract: | Nathaniel Hawthorne is an outstanding novelist of American Romanticism in the 19th century. His works are often touched with religious color. By analyzing his use of Biblical archetypes in The Scarlet Letter, especially those of character and plot. We will have a better understanding of the writer＇ s complicate and contradictory religious feelings. |
