Abstract:
A glassy Zr41Ti14Ni8Cu12.5Be22.5Fe2 rod with a diameter of 9 mm was successfully produced by water quenching. The effects of iron addition on thermal stability
and hardness of Zr41Ti14Ni8Cu12.5Be22.5Fe2 bulk amorphous alloy were investigated by XR D, DSC and microhardness test. It is found that the full annealing would enhance
the strength of the alloy significantly. The cause of the increase in hardness was analyzed and the formation mechanisms of
the bulk amorphous alloy are discussed.
