| Abstract: | This paper mainly studies how the translation of Chinese poems in the speeches by American top officials achieves the discourse coherence.Firstly,the author discussed the role of lexical cohesion in achieving coherence.Then it argues that when the information in the discourse corresponded to the ICM(Idealized Cognitive Models) and background knowledge in the subject's cognition,the discourse is coherent. |
