| Abstract: | Investigation on the criteria Δb, α and Δη] available to the determination of polymer-polymer compatibility by viscosity measurement indicates that, though not the same in form, these criteria chiefly depend upon the Huggins mutual interaction parameter kAB. The influence of absolute value of kAB upon polymer-polymer compatibility can be indicated by Δη] criterion, whereas the influence of relative value of kAB upon polymer-polymer compatibility can be indicated by Δb and α criteria. Both Δb criterion and Δη] criterion were employed in this article to study the compatibility between poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc). |
