The early American commissioner Arthur Henderdon Smith observed in perspective and sketched a relatively clear picture of Chinese characters,which influenced the development of Chinese Studies in America and the history of Chinese thinking,and formed the beginning of the self-rethinking and self-conscientiousness for the Chinese people. |
