Abstract:In this paper, Winkler foundation model and pure shear spring element model which transfers vertical loads along the joint are used to analyse the load transfer efficiency at the longitudinal and transversal joints of concrete pavements by the FEM method.The effects of slab size, loading type and pavement structural rigidity on load transfer efficiency are also ana lyzed. The relationship between the reduced coefficient of slab edge stress and deflection ratio which is defined as the deflection of unloaded slab divided by the deflection of loaded slab is established. Applying this relationship, we can evaluate the load transfer in jointed concrete pavements.
