采矿工程的主要研究内容非常丰富，将许多相关领域的科学成就应用到采矿生产工艺，逐渐形成了采矿理论体系。本文对来自金属矿开采杂志和会议论文集的1401篇论文进行了文本聚类分析并尝试提出当前金属矿采矿工程的重点研究方向。主要的研究内容包括：最近几年金属矿开采的主要研究领域，金属矿开采最活跃的研究领域，和前几年的研究领域比较出现的变化等。
