Application of Capacitive Resistor Voltage Divider in the Research on Pulse Capacitor Discharge Characteristics

A design of capacitive resistor voltage divider is provided for the experimental research of pulse capacitor discharge characteristics. The divider consists of a pulsed resistor voltage divider and a high voltage mica capacitor. In the procedure of capacitor charging, the mica capacitor bears the voltage. When the capacitor is discharged, the fluctuation of voltage between the two poles of the capacitor drops on the pulsed resistor voltage divider, and the resistor divider outputs voltage signal to be measured. With proper choice of the values of capacitance and resistance, the charge voltage and the discharge waveform on the capacitor can be measured. This article also analyzes the discharge characteristics of a kind of pulse capacitor with the capacitive resistor divider.
