| 摘 要： | 英语委婉语常见于西方社会生活、政治、经济、军事、教育等方面，运用构词、词汇、修辞、语音等方法委婉表达；具有避讳、礼貌、掩饰、美化等功能；在运用中具有女性多于男性，上多于下，文明程度较高等特点。

| Abstract: | The application of English euphamism is commonly seen in the Western social life, politics, economy, military, educatim and so on. Euphemism is used in word-building, vocabulary, rhetorics, phonetics to express in a round about way. Euphemism has the function of avoiding embarrassment, possessing politeness, conceiling and beautifying awkward things. In actual practice, the female make more use of it than the male do, the superior use it more than the inferior and euphemism also has the characteristic of higher level of civilization. |
