大型局域网干线流量的可预测性分析

摘    要:用一种新的算法 ,在校园网的环境下对局域网干线流量的可预测性进行了全面的分析后得出结论 :在时间粒度较细的情况下网络流量的可预测性较好 ,而在 10min以上时间粒度下网络流量基本不具备可预测性 .对分析结果给出简单的理论上的解释

Abstract:Network predicting plays a large role in network management. Network predicting is also used by various protocols and network operations to decide their next step action. Network traffic is one of the most important network properties, and its predictability will affect the analysis of network behavior, the form of network traffic models and the reliability of some network operations. With a large measurement dataset gathered from one trunk line of our campus network, using a new method, we have made an overall analysis of LAN traffic predictability and have drawn the conclusion that, in finer time scales, LAN traffic can be predicted well while, in coarser time scales larger than 10min, LAN traffic is almost unpredictable. Probable cause of this phenomenon is also presented.
