Chroestia,a new supralittoral amphipod genus from Queensland,Australia (Talitroidea: Talitridae)

Chroestia lota, a new genus and species of talitrid amphipod from the shores of Moreton Bay, is described and figured. Its relationship to other ‘beach flea’ genera (Protorchestia, Transorchestia, Orchestia) and to the endemic Australian forest-dwelling genus Agilestia are discussed.
