Abstract: | Nine species of Upogebia Leach from the Seychelles Islands, the Philippines, Indonesia and the Gulf of Aden are studied. U. balmaorum, U. laemanu and U. gracilis are all new species and the first two are closely related to each other. The four additional species include U. baweana Tirmizi and Kazmi, U. fallax de Man, U. hexaceras (Ortmann) and U. miyakei Sakai, two of which are known only from their holotypes. They are compared here with U. pugnax de Man, U. octoceras Nobili; all are briefly re-described. |
