阅读教学中背景知识的激活策略探讨

摘    要:背景知识在大学英语阅读教学中起着举足轻重的作用。然而还有相当多的教师在课堂教学中过分注重词汇、语法等方面的语言知识的讲授而忽略了激活、调用学生的相关背景知识。这种教学模式不能提高学生的阅读理解能力。因此,本文在从理论的角度分析背景知识在阅读中的重要性的基础上提出一些尝试性的背景知识激活策略。

Abstract:What Carrell et al say- Every act of comprehension involves ones knowledge of the world as well (Anderson et al, quoted from Carrell and Eisterhold, 1983: 73) shows the importanceof ones background knowledge in reading comprehension. The observation of the practice of EFL reading teaching to non-majors of English in Chinese colleges, however, reveals that still a number of teachers of College English pay little attention to the role of background knowledge in reading comprehension, the result of which is that reading comprehension remains mainly at the lexical and grammatical levels. Therefore, after analyzing the importance of background knowledge in reading theoretically, this paper suggests some tentative techniques of activating readers background knowledge for the purpose of deeper understanding of the readings as well as acquiring more and more background knowledge for future successful reading.
