Abstract:Agricultural soil, affected by long time cultivation and developing processes, is divided into topsoil and subsoil. Considering the difference in physical properties between different layers of soil, a mathematical model of unsteady flow in border irrigation is constructed by means of Saint-Venant model combined with the improved Green-Ampt infiltration model. The numerical solution is in good agreement with field observation. On this basis the optimum combination of technical parameters can be determined for border irrigation. The results of the study provide a basis for water management for irrigation districts.
