Abstract:Bi/MnBi eutectic in situ composite was produced by unidirectional solidification technique. The eutectic has a quasi-regular structure, in which the cross section of MnBi fibre is V-shaped and rod-like in longitudinal section, the aspect radio being about 300. The formation of this V-shaped MnBi phase was studied by crystallographic analysis. The conclusion is that the (1120) face is the closest packed one while the (1010) face is the next.
