试述蕃兵在北宋西北防务的主力作用

蕃兵产生于宋夏战争之际,是由吐蕃、羌等族壮勇组成的一支少数民族军队。从其产生开始,得到北宋政府的重视,并采用一系列不同于正兵的措施,即以夷制夷的控制策略,独特的招选制度及用兵方略,以及羁縻政策等,使其成为北宋西北防务的主力。

On the Function of Tubo Soldiers for Defending Northwest Frontier in Northern Song Dynasty

Tubo soldiers was formed during the war period of the Song Dynasty and the Xia Dynasty,which was mainly composed of Tubo,Qiang soldiers and given much emphasis by Northern Song government since its formation.The Northern Song government adopted a different policy from its formal army,i.e.taking the advantage of using minority to control minority,special drafting and strategies for fighting,etc,made it a major force for defending the northwest frontier in Northern Song Dynasty.
