孟德尔发现被埋没原因初探

孟德尔发现是19世纪自然科学的一项重大成就。遗憾的是,这项成就曾被埋没达35年之久。本文从以下四个方面对被埋没的原因作一试探性分析。(一)、当时的科学发展水平没有为人们认识孟德尔理论,隹备好条件,(二)、孟德尔理论中的唯物主义思想与当时某些生物学家遗传理论中的“目的论”倾向的直接对立;(三)、孟德尔的遗传学研究方法和论文表述方法不同于传统的生物学方法;(四)、孟德尔本身工作的局限性。

A Preliminary Study of the Reasons Why Mendel's Discovery Was Ignored

Mendel's discovery is a great achivement of the natural science in the 19th century. It is a pity that this discovery has been ignored for 35 years. Here, we attempt to analyse the reasons of the ignoring as follows. Firstly. at that time, the development of science did not prepare the conditions for people to understand Mendel's theory. Secondly, the materialistic ideas in the Mendel's theory is contrary directly to the tendency of the teleology in some theories of heredity advanced by some biologists. Thirdly, the methods Mendel applied in his study of heredity and in the writing of his thesis depart from the methods of traditional biology. Finally, Mendel's work itself is imperfect and has its limitations.
