Analysis of Principle and Property of Active Electromagnetic Armor

This paper simply introduces the idea of two electromagnetic armors:active electromagnetic armor and reactive electromagnetic armor.Active electromagnetic armor uses electromagnet to accelerate a protective plate into the path of an attacking penetrator.The paper describes the installation of active electromagnetic armor,discusses the principles of active electromagnetic armor,gives equivalent circuit model of an active electromagnetic armor and derives expression of velocity of plate and energy efficiency.The paper analyses property of active electromagnetic armor and puts foward several approaches of raising energy effciency.Finally,it introduces the principles of two dimensional steerable launcher with modular pulsed power and forecaits the situation of development of active electromagnetic armor in the futuve.
