| Abstract: | The author,after briefly reviewing the history of introduction to dialect geography in China and some previous studies concerned,points out that it is one of the important subjects concerning the Chinese dialect geography to determine the area structures of Chinese dialects.The hierarchical structure of Chinese dialects must be based on the observation of isoglosses and the study of lineage classification.It is a serious misunderstanding of dialect geography to set up a trichotomy between dialect geography,dialect area structures and family tree. |
