Abstract:As an analysis facility for power system failure, the failure recorder is indispensable. A new computer based failure recorder, the type CFR recorder, is developed, which is capable of accurately recording the variation of the system current and voltage before and after the failure, and the sequence of waveform variation of relevant switching signals when the system failure occurs. Based on recordings, the character of a failure can be determined and the failure point located. The principal part of the recorder is a type IPC 610 industrial computer and some specially designed data collecting and processing modules to make possible a joint operation of data collection and anaysis in the same computer. The software of the system is fabricated with mixed programming of Borland C ++ and macroassembly languages, the latter being used where real time control is required. The basic principle of the failure detection, if it is to be so used, is briefly described, and any abrupt change in the waveform as well as the effective values of electrical quantities can be also detected.
