Abstract:Effects of various variables such as imposed magnetic flux density, imposed time, the diameter of inclusions, and the non-dimensional parameter r1/δ on the removal efficiency of inclusion separation in hollow-cylinder like melt using alternating electromagnetic field were analyzed and illustrated. It is found that higher removal efficiency can be obtained in hollow-cylinder like melt than cylinder like case under the same conditions. Removal efficiency reaches maximum when the frequency ranges from 10 to 15 kHz and r1/δ ranges from 1.5 to 2. Inclusion particles with diameter smaller than 5μm can not be removal easily in this case. The numeric range of magnetic flux density should be more than 0.1 T, and the value of imposed time should be more than 5 s.
