Robinson Crusoe and Adult Ceremony

The main plots of Robinson Crusoe could be divided into three parts： adventure on the sea, life on the desolate island and return from the island. This narrative mode respectively matched with three phases of ancient adult ceremony, which included preparation phase, active phase and final phase. Therefore, this work can be included into works describing maturity course. Through the narrative of how protagonist sought the solutions to conflicts between man and self, man and religion and man and nature, Defoe tried to coordinate the relationship between economic development and moral criterion, so as to integrate notion of creation with that of redemption.
