陈黻宸与《新世界学报》

温籍近代著名史学家陈黻宸于1902年因杭州府中学堂事件而离浙赴沪担任《新世界学报》总撰述。《新世界学报》只出15期便停刊，但陈黻宸按照近代西方学科体系分栏目，大量介绍西学，并且力求引导传统学术进入近代学术体系，试图借鉴西方思想，以中学统摄西学。《新世界学报》不仅在学术领域具有影响力，还是第一本中国人创办、在国内采用两面印刷、洋式装订的杂志。

Chen Fuchen and Journal of New World

Chen Fuchen, the famous modern historian hailing from Wenzhou, left Zhejiang for Shanghai because of the Fuzhong School Event in Hangzhou in 1902 to serve as the editor-in-chief of Journal of New World, which stopped after its 15th issue had been published. In editing, Chen classified all the articles in accordance with the modern Western disciplinary system. Much Western learning had been introduced to China in order to guide the traditional Chinese academic studies in the integrating with modern academic system. Chen tried to draw lessons from the West to achieve his dream of constructing a Chinese-centered-and-West-based academic system. Journal of New World had a profound influence on Chinese academia. As a magazine published by Chinese and printed in China, it was the first perfect printing and Western-style binding one.
