在自我和他者之间--老舍作品中的英国人形象

迄今为止,学界对老舍创作中的异国影响有了较为深入的探讨,但对老舍作品中的另一异国因素：异国人形象的塑造仍关注不多。而作为一位旅居英国近五年并在英国生活期间走上文坛的作家,老舍塑造的英国人形象就很值得关注。从老舍的整个创作背景看,老舍是以一种通过他者反观自我的文化思路来塑造英国人形象的;而且在不同时期的文字中他笔下的英国人形象是有所变化的。可以说,这种异国形象的塑造不仅折射出自我与他者的现实关系,也反映了作家对自我的认识。

Between the Self and the Other:the Images of the English in Laoshe's Works

So far profound researches have been done on the influence of the western cultures presented in Laoshe's works,but there is still little exploration of his portrait of the images of foreigners in his works. So this paper attempts to analyze howLaoshe portrayed the English in his major writings. The first part mainly examines the images of the English portrayed in theYellow Storm, and concludes that Laoshe realized a kind of introspection through this portrait. And the second part focuses on thedevelopment of this portrait and points out that the images of foreigners portrayed in his works not only reflects the realisticrelationship between the "self" and the "other" but also shows the writer's understanding of the self.
