On Philosophical Optimism about Technology in the Renaissance

Technology during the Renaissance period was basically characterized as craftsmanship of cottage industries, yet began its transition to manufactures which later gained a one-up dominance. An early trace of integration of science with technology was revealed by technology's being an instrumental method for scientific observations and experimentation, as well as by its being an experiential resource for theoretical advancing. Humanism provided an indirect humanist basis for technology from the aspects of the nature, rationality and liberty of human beings. Natural philosophy explicated the ontological reality of technology from a philosophical point of view, even alluding to the discussion of the dual nature of artifact. The idea of this period unlocked a gate to the modern era.
