Abstract:A quasi three dimensional geometric nonlinear analysis of a symmetric angle ply laminate with edge delaminations located symmetrically with respect to the laminate midplane subjected to uniform axial extension is presented. The individual and total energy release rate are estimated with virtual crack closure technique(VCCT). 8 node isoparametric parabolic elements are used to model the edge delaminations. Some numerical results and discussions are given.
