| Abstract: | In this paper a new kinetic method for the determimation of trace amount of manganese (II) is described. It is based on the catalytic effect of manganese on the discoloration of tht methyiene bule caused by oxidation with periodate in acetate buffer. Under the optimal experimental conditions,trace amount of manganese ( I ) between 5 and 80 ng/27mi is determined by the finedtime method. The procedure has been applied to the determimation of manganese in water with cellent results. |
