Abstract:The activation mechanism of phosphorus slag is investigated through determining the relationship between the pH value of medium solution and the dissolution of phosphorus slag, and the influence of various substances on the cementious properties of phosphorus slag. The experimental results show that the hydration of the slag take place either through solution reaction or through topochemical reaction at early stage. But the later dominates. The alkali metal salts, whose anions or anion groups can combine with Ca~(2+) and form insoluble salts, can be used as activators of the slag. The anions or anion groups influence the hydration of the slag and the structure of the hydrates greatly. XRD analysis indicates that the main hydrate of the slag is low basic C-S-H gel, and no zeolite is found.
