The Effect of Predictive Function of Register on English Listening Comprehension

The register theory is an important part in systematic functional grammar.Its basic function is to predict the textual structure.This paper applies the predictive function of register into English listening comprehension.Based on those problems,students can predict the listening materials from the three aspects： field of discourse,mode of discourse,and tenor of discourse.Students can first have a framework to the listening materials,and then they can be target-oriented and purposeful in the process of listening.
