Using western existentialism theory, this paper analyzes the mentality changes of librarians to excellence selection activity at the time of personnel system reform of university, reveals the vitality brought about by the reform to librarians, which makes the excellence selection activity change from supporting role in library work to the remarkable focus, and ponders the states of librarians＇ self-identity before and after the excellence selection activity.
