| Abstract: | By looking at Biblical allusions, biblical symbols and biblical/Christian ideas we can clearly see the connections between Shakespeare's Macbeth and the Bible. It is in these connections that Shakespeare portrays Macbeth's sinful nature, his inability to live up to reason, and consequently, his suffering from both internal tortures and outside disasters, which ultimately results from God's punishment. Macbeth's tragedy is, first of all, the tragedy of a person imbedded in biblical/Christian tradition. |
