| Abstract: | The Gauss's formula in Geometrical optics derived without relying on specific mechanisms such as reflection and refraction. The extensive use of symmetries in this derivation clarifies the deep analoge between mirrors and lenese.and reveals the natural existence of four,not three principal rays for both mirrors and lenses. |
