Abstract:A new algorithm for the calculation of the symmetrical or asymmetrical faults of power system is proposed. The mathematical model developed can be used to calculate both the fault load flow and the normal load flow. The difference between normal and fault load flow calculation lies in the handling of the source voltages. According to the nature of fault, a positive sequence network alone or all three sequence networks are required. Volt-ages at all nodes and fault currents can be directly calculated from the equation I = YV. Unlike the commonly used fault analysis algorithm, with this model, it is easier to take any elements such as resistances, capacitances, short circuit impedances as well as the loads into account, while there is no need for forming an impedance matrix.
