A Comparative Study of Economic and Trade Cooperation of Dongguan with Hong Kong and Taiwan

Dongguan is typical of the cooperation cases among Hong Kong, Taiwan and the inland coastal cities. Hong Kong is making an exploratory investment into service sector in Dongguan. The cooperation mode between Hong Kong and Dongguan is shifting from ＂stores before factories＂ to ＂branch stores after main stores＂. The Hong Kong manufacture is transforming and up- grading with the help of Hong Kong and Dongguan＇ s government and customs. ＂Japanese technology, Taiwan＇ s order and design, Dongguan＇ s manufacture, Hong Kong＇ s re-export and overseas sales＂ is the long-term cooperation mode between Taiwan and Dong- guan. The regional cooperation between Taiwan and Dongguan is one-way and indirect. Taiwanese merchants are transforming and upgrading, with the increase of capital investing strategic industries and service sectors such as financial and logistics industry. The regional cooperation is inevitably continuing to develop.
