Association of the Development of the Chinese Figure Wash Painting in the 20th Century

The development of arts is always ascending in a spiral way. In their probing into the truth of the art, all the artists, from the ancient times to the present, are suffering enough from the happiness and bitterness of innovating and returning, drawing lessons from what is useful and discarding what is not, affirming and denying, being at sea and clear cut. This paper attempts to make people be more clear about the developing trends of the Chinese figure painting and inspire us to create its more brilliant future by anatomizing the artistic characteristics of Xu Beihong, Jiang Zhaohe and Zhou Sicong, the three important personages of Chinese figure painting and the representatives of Chinese figure painting developing trends in the 20th Century.
