| Abstract: | The antagonistic effect of naloxone on electro-acupuncture analgesia has been demons- trated in men as well as in animals with the exception of rats. The present work shows that the analgesic effect of acupuncture could be blocked by the administration of naloxone alone. However, it could be easily blocked by the intraventricular injection of naloxone in (?)ats injected beforehand with PCPA to lower the cerebral 5-HT content, implying that 5-HT and endorphins in rat brain might be the two main neurochemical subs(?)rates involved in acupunc- ture analgesia. |
