通过隐喻提高中国英语学习者的文化意识

摘    要:隐喻是一种常见而重要的语言现象。一种语言中隐喻的使用反映了这一语言的使用者如何看待和解释他们周围的世界,这在很大程度上是由他们的文化决定的。本文从第二语言教学的角度,分析讨论了文化因素对中国学习者正确理解以及产出目标语隐喻的影响,强调语言和文化的密不可分以及教授第二文化在二语教学中的意义和必要性,提出可以利用隐喻这个有效的工具唤起语言学习者的文化意识,提高他们对文化差异的敏感度。

Abstract:Metaphor is a common and important language phenomenon. Metaphors used in one language reflect how people see and interpret the world around them within that speech community, which is, to a great extent, culturally specific. This paper, from the perspective of second language teaching and learning, discusses cultural influence on learners' understanding and producing metaphors in the target language and stresses that language and cultural are indivisible and second language teaching and learning inevitably involves teaching and learning a second culture. In this sense, metaphor might be used as an effective tool to help raise Chinese learners' cultural awareness and develop their sensitivity to cultural difference.
