Abstract:Combined catalytic oxidation of acetaldehyde to glyoxal by HNO 3 with combined catalyst,MAS 02,has been studied.Sodium nitrite is a reaction initiator.The effects of different catalysts,weight ratio of nitric acid to acetaldehyde,concentration of nitric acid,reaction temperature,stirring time,addition method to reactor,etc.factors on the selectivity and yield per pass were investigated.The experimental results showed that the use of organic acid and precious metallic compound combined catalyst resulted in a considerable improvement of reaction resultto give glyoxal in 70% selectivity and 45% yield per pass.
