Two new species of cryptognathid mites are described and illustrated from Turkey. One other species, Favognathus orbiculatus (Livshitz, 1974) is also reported as a new record. A key is provided to the known species of Favognathus 相似文献

A phoretic association of an undescribed uropodid deutonymph (Acari: Uropodidae) with the beach hopper Traskorchestia traskiana (Crustacea: Talitridae) is examined. Only juvenile mites (deutonymphs) were found attached to the coxal gills of the 257 beach hoppers examined. Both prevalence (range = 27·1–75·0%) and mean intensity (range = 1·3–3·7) increased as host size increased, possibly due to increased exposure time to the mites and a greater area for attachment in larger hosts. Among the gills, the mites exhibited a preference for coxal gill 5, which may be due to pH and humidity gradients but did not seem to be influenced by grooming or agitation of the gills by adjacent appendages. 相似文献

A new species under the name Scaptognathus ventridiscus sp. nov. is described from Japan. It differs from its congeners by the possession of a ventral disc in the male, a peculiar arrangement of dorsal plates and dorsal setae, and unique leg chaetotaxy. 相似文献

A new genus, Protogamasellopsis (family Ascidae), is proposed to accommodate the type species Protogamasellopsis corticalis sp. nov and Protogamasellus diocorus Manson. The classification of the Protogamasellus complex is discussed and a new subgenus, Protogamasellodes (type: Protogamasellus hibernicus Evans), is erected. A key is given for the separation of the genera Gamasellodes, Protogamasellus s.lat and Protogamasellopsis. 相似文献

Eustigmaeus floridensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on female specimens collected from citrus trees in Florida, USA. The new species is closely related to Eustigmaeus arcuata, Eustigmaeus segnis and Eustigmaeus microsegnis, all known to occur in Florida. Eustigmaeus floridensis sp. nov. can be distinguished by larger dimples associated with setae sce, d2 and e1 containing at least four or more vacuoles centrally; dorsal body setae broadly lanceolate and feather-like, except c2, which is slender; anogenital area with striae and one pair of serrated aggenital (ag1) and three pairs of serrated pseudanal (ps1?3) setae. A key to the Eustigmaeus species known to occur across USA is also provided. 相似文献

We characterised the mite fauna associated with a subtidal population of Laminaria ochroleuca in the Cantabrian Sea during a 4-year study. We found 2780 individuals belonging to 35 species. The mite assemblage comprised both north Atlantic and Mediterranean species, as usually reported from the Lusitanian region. The most abundant and diverse subfamily was Copidognathinae, followed by Halacarinae and Lohmannellinae. The greatest abundance of mites was detected on kelp holdfasts, not only strictly phytal mites were found but also interstitial mites or those associated with other macrofauna. Such a distribution could be explained by the high diversity and heterogeneity of microhabitats provided by holdfasts. Mite abundance fluctuated during the 4 years of the study. However, the lowest abundance was detected during the last year of sampling. During that year, the studied algal population suffered a severe decay leaving only degenerating holdfasts attached to the substrate, which could explain the decrease in mite numbers. 相似文献

Summary The geographical distribution of the genus Dynamene is described in the light of the recent discovery of three new species. D. bidentata appears to have a Boreal distribution whilst that of D. edwardsi and D. magnitorata is Atlanto-Mediterranean. D. torelliae, D. bifida, and D. tubicauda have a Mediterranean distribution but the first species may extend into the Black Sea. Only one species, D. ramuscula, has been recorded outside the Afro-European region, in S.E. Australia. The ranges and habitat preferences of those species outside the Mediterranean overlap as do some of those within the Mediterranean, particularly in the Naples Bay region. Juveniles of D. bidentata inhabit and feed on intertidal algae while adults shelter in crevices and empty tests of Balanus perforatus, mainly below MTL. Settlement of males into barnacle tests appears to be random, but females show some degree of aggregation, perhaps to other females. Other species show the same change of habitat at sexual maturity and all inhabit intertidal or inshore localities. 相似文献

The males and females of Arrenurus dileri n. sp. collected from standing waters at the foothills of the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey and males of Arrenurus ???kl?ensis n. sp. collected from I??kl? Lake, which is located in south-west Turkey, are described here. The morphological features of the species are compared with those of the similar species Arrenurus claviger Konike, 1882 and Arrenurus nodosus (Koenike, 1896). 相似文献

Three new mite species of the genus Mediolata Canestrini – Mediolata obtecta sp. nov., Mediolata ozkani sp. nov. and Mediolata turcica sp. nov. – are described and illustrated from Turkey. Mediolata granaria Gonzalez-Rodriguez is a new record for Turkish fauna. A key to the species known from Turkey is provided. 相似文献
