A new genus and species of Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera,Chalcidoidea) from Spain,parasitic in cynipid galls on Fumaria

Neaylax versicolor (Hymenoptera, Cynipidae), which forms galls on fumitory (Fumaria), is attacked in Spain by Rivasia fumariae, a species of Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) herein described as new and assigned to a new genus. The new genus has an unusual combination of morphological characters but seems best placed in the pteromalid subfamily Ormocerinae. An account is given of the biology and larval morphology of the new species.

Review of the family Rotoitidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), with description of a new genus and species from Chile

A new genus and species of Rotoitidae, Chiloe micropteron Gibson and Huber, is described from females and one male from Chile. The taxon is the second known genus and species, and the male is the only one known for the family. Scanning electron micrographs illustrate external and internal structure of C. micropteron females, and external structure of Rotoita basalis     

芜湖稻田小蜂总科寄生蜂的多样性研究

初步调查了安徽芜湖稻田害虫的小蜂总科寄生蜂种类、多样性指数和均匀度.结果显示,共采集了小蜂714只,隶属于9科、28属、34种,其中安徽新纪录科1个,安徽新纪录属16个,安徽新纪录种21种;多样性指数最高的是赤眼蜂科为1.31,其次是金小蜂科和缨小蜂科,分别为1.20和1.14;均匀度指数最高的是旋小蜂科为0.99,其余较低;以金小蜂科的物种最为丰富,而数量上以赤眼蜂科最多.稻螟赤眼蜂、褐腰赤眼蜂和赤带扁股小蜂是值得开发利用的本地寄生蜂资源.     

The rare fish Neophrynichthys marmoratus Regan 1913, in the southern slope of Chile (Teleostomi,Psychrolutidae)

Summary

Two captures each of one and three specimens of Neophrynichthys marmoratus Regan 1913, off Chilean waters are reported. Both represent northward extensions of known geographical range. Observations were made in relation with colour pattern. The presence of sutured platelike hypurals on the terminal vertebral half centrum, and the presence of swimbladder are considered together with pectoral fin shape to suggest location of the species into the family Psychrolutidae of the order Acanthopterygii.     

Two new species and additional distributional records of Acmopolynema Ogloblin (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae) from India

Two new species of Acmopolynema Ogloblin (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae), Acmopolynema pteron Manickavasagam & Palanivel sp. nov. and Acmopolynema pseudotachikawai Manickavasagam & Palanivel sp. nov., are described from India; a revised key to Indian species of the genus is provided. The preimaginal stages of Minotetrastichus frontalis (Nees) and Chrysocharis laomedon (Walker) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), parasitoids associated with Phyllonorycter issikii (Kumata) (Lepidoptera,Gracillariidae)

The biology and morphology of the early larval instars of Minotetrastichus frontalis (Nees) are redescribed and the morphology of the preimaginal stages of Chrysocharis laomedon (Walker) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) are described in detail for the first time. Both species are larval-pupal parasitoids of Phyllonorycter issikii (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae), which is associated with Tilia sp. The female of M. frontalis lays her egg beside the host larva and the newly hatched first instar larva moves and has to find the host larva. The larva of P. issikii tries to continue its feeding but never pupates after paralysis. The female of C. laomedon lays its egg inside the cuticle of the larva of P. issikii, but the newly hatched parasitoid larva vacates the host larva and develops externally on its surface as an ectoparasitoid. Such behaviour might be facilitated by the constant temperature and humidity inside the mine. Some peculiarities of parasitoid–host relationships are described and discussed.     

On the parasitoid community of Aulacidea laurae (Hym., Cynipidae), with description of a new species of Adontomerus (Hym., Torymidae)

An account is given of parasitoids (Hym., Chalcidoidea) reared from Spanish galls of Aulacidea laurae (Hymenoptera, Cynipidae) which develop in achenes of Scorzonera laciniata (Asteraceae). The parasitoid community includes Adontomerus brevicaudatus (Hym., Torymidae) which is described as new. Final instar larva of the new species is also described. The generic placement of A. brevicaudatus and the composition of the parasitoid community are discussed.     

Species status of two colour morphs of Eupelmus vesicularis (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae) as revealed by allozyme electrophoresis,morphometric and host preference data

Eupelmus vesicularis (Retzius) is considered to be a widespread and polyphagous parasitoid recorded from more than 200 hosts. The aim of this study was to determine whether two colour forms of the putative species represent two different morphs of a single species or a pair of cryptic species. Three different methods – morphometric analysis, allozyme electrophoresis and evaluation of host preferences – were used to investigate the existence of two cryptic species. Bivariate and multivariate analyses clearly indicate two species that are also distinguishable electrophoretically at the Idh-2, G6pdh, Me, Pgm and Xdh loci. The evaluation of host preferences indicates some overlap in host range between the two species.     

Description of Torymus lasallei,sp. nov. (Hymenoptera: Torymidae), a species with an unusual ovipositor

ABSTRACT

Torymus lasallei, sp. nov., a species with an unusual ovipositor, reared from galls of Amphibolips spp. (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) on Quercus spp. (Lobatae section) from Mexico, is described. The placement of this new species within the genus Torymus, and the morphology and function of its ovipositor, are discussed.
