The paper briefly reviews the data which shows that the circadian production and secretion of melatonin by the pineal gland can impart both daily, i.e., clock, and seasonal, i.e., calendar, information to the organism. The paper summarizes the 3 patterns of nocturnal melatonin production that have been described. Clearly, regardless of the pattern of nocturnal melatonin production a particular species normally displays, the duration of nightime elevated melatonin is proportional to the duration of the night length. Since daylength under natural conditions changes daily the melatonin rhythm, which adjusts to the photoperiod sends time of year information to the organism. The melatonin receptors which subserve the clock message sent by the pineal gland in the form of a melatonin cycle may reside in the biological clock itself, namely, the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN). The melatonin receptors that mediate seasonal changes in reproductive physiology are presumably those that are located on the pars tuberalis cells of the anterior pituitary gland. Besides these receptors which likely mediate clock and calendar information, melatonin receptors have been described in other organs. Interestingly, the distribution of melatonin receptors is highly species-specific. Whereas the clock and calendar information that the melatonin cycle imparts to the organism relies on cell membrane receptors, a fact that is of some interest considering the high lipophilicity of melatonin, recent studies indicate that other functions of melatonin may require no receptor whatsoever.  相似文献

Experiments were carried out to elucidate the role of central catecholamines in regulating catecholamine metabolism in the vas deferens and adrenal gland of the rat. Rats were injected intracerebroventricularly (i.c.v.) with either vehicle or 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA). Groups of animals pretreated with vehicle or 6-OHDA (i.c.v.) were injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) with alpha-methyl-para-tyrosine (AMT), a tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitor. Catecholamine turnover rates were estimated by determining norepinephrine or epinephrine content after administrating AMT.Central norepinephrine and dopamine contents decreased significantly (p<0.05) after treatment with 6-OHDA and AMT. The norepinephrine content of the vas deferens of rats pretreated with 6-OHDA was markedly reduced (p<0.001) after administration of AMT, whereas that of the vehicle-treated rats remained unchanged. Administration of 6-OHDA had no effect on the norepinephrine or epinephrine content of the adrenal gland.The present results indicate that central monoaminergic neurons have an inhibitory effect on the adrenergic neurons of the vas deferens. In contrast, this inhibitory regulation does not appear to be exerted on the adrenal glands.  相似文献

采用异硫氰酸荧光素(FITC)标记的核糖核酸酶(FITC-RNase)作为探针,结合半薄切片技术,观察了慢性萎缩性胃炎与正常胃活检组织中RNA的分布变化,结果表明:慢性萎缩性胃啖腺体细胞内RNA明显减少,分布部位与正常胃腺体细胞差异较大,这些结果于慢性萎缩性胃炎的病理诊断提供了一些依据,对进一步从分子水平上研究慢性萎缩性胃炎的病理变化及其与胃癌的关系具有一定的意义。  相似文献

Summary The principal constituent of the pygidial gland ofNothomyrmecia macrops is 3,7-dimethyloct-6-en-2-one, a substance not previously identified in insects. Also identified were 2,6-dimethylhept-5-enal, 2-nonanone, indole, -dodecalactone, and the hydrocarbons pentadecane, heptadecane, heptadecene and heptadecadiene, all in low nanogram quantities.  相似文献

Summary Following engorgement, female ixodid ticks secrete a tick salivary gland degeneration factor (TSGDF) into the hemolymph. Here we show that the arthropod ecdysteroid hormones, ecdysome and 20-hydroxyecdysone, induce degeneration of tick salivary glands maintained in organ culture. The effective dose range in vitro is 30–300 ng/ml, a range reported to be physiological for this species following repletion. In addition, infusion of 20-hydroxyecdysome in vivo induces salivary gland degeneration. We therefore propose that TSGDF may be an ecdysteroid.Acknowledgments. 目的探讨乳腺导管扩张症的诊断及治疗。方法对本院1990年1月~2004年6月间收治经病理确诊的32例乳腺导管扩张症患者的临床资料进行回顾性分析。结果乳腺导管扩张症主要表现为乳腺肿物和乳头溢液,术前确诊仅9例(28.4%),误诊23例(71.6%),均行手术治疗,治愈28例(87.5%),复发4例。结论乳腺导管扩张症易误诊,术中病理组织学检查是确诊的可靠方法,治疗需外科手术。  相似文献

聚乙二醇/聚对苯二甲酸丁二醇酯(PEG/PBT)-1,4二氧六环溶液体系在温度低于20℃时可变成凝胶态。将数字挤压/喷射技术与热致相分离技术结合,提出了一种新型多孔管状支架成形技术——低温挤出成形技术。构建了基于该技术的成形平台,研究了成形温度对支架宏观形貌、孔隙率、力学性能等的影响。该技术成形的支架孔隙率最高可达95%,微孔尺寸分布为35~48μm,支架弹性模量为61.9~106 kPa。人类颌下腺细胞种植实验表明:支架具有良好的细胞亲和性,在涎腺组织工程中具有良好的应用前景。  相似文献

采用0.5%琼脂糖凝胶电泳方法对云南树鼩的肝脏、胃、小肠、胰腺、睾丸和卵巢组织的乳酸脱氢酶同工酶进行电泳分析.结果表明,在6种不同组中,乳酸脱氢酶均呈现为5种不同分子形式的同工酶.其LDH_4至LDH_1同工酶随电泳迁移率的增大依次趋于阳极端,LDH_5同工酶则趋于阴极端.按分光光度比色定量法对各同工酶组分进行洗脱定量,分别测得6种组织中5种同工酶组分的相对百分含量.通过酶谱分析,提示在6种不同组织中由于A、B两种基因表达活性的差异,其酶谱特征也各不相同.文中对树鼩6种组织的LDH同工酶的H和M亚基百分率及H/M亚基比率进行了统计分析,提示这与各类组织的生物学功能及代谢类型相关.  相似文献

The current status of our understanding of cichlid intrafamilial relationships is investigated and novel data are presented resolving a basal trichotomy of the African and Neotropical radiations (Oliver, 1985). The claim that the African Cichlidae is non-monophyletic is supported and the little known Zairean genus Heterochromis is identified as the sistergroup of all other African and Neotropical Cichlidae combined. Throughout the study emphasis has been placed upon the resolution of the precise phylogenetic relationships of the enigmatic Neotropical genus, Cichla; a taxon whose placement has been thought critical for successful intra-familial analyses. Analysis of the evidence currently available argues strongly in favour of a close phylogenetic relationship between Cichla and the sisterpair, Crenicichla and Teleocichla. Given this phylogenetic scheme one of the most interesting aspects to arise is the striking morphological parallels between Cichla and many of its distantly related percoid relatives.  相似文献
