Summary In rats adapted to a 1212 h light-dark (LD) schedule, cyclic AMP concentration in the preoptic region showed a L minimum and D maximum. Plant imprinted genes show parent-of-origin expression in seed endosperm, but little is known about the nature of parental imprints in gametes before fertilization. We show here that single differentially methylated regions (DMRs) correlate with allele-specific expression of two maternally expressed genes in the seed and that one DMR is differentially methylated between gametes. Thus, plants seem to have developed similar strategies as mammals to epigenetically mark imprinted genes.  相似文献

Considering the responses of both auditory receptors inEmpyreuma pugione (Arctiidae, Ctenuchinae), it was found that this auditory organ maintains its frequency tuning and directionality over an intensity range of more than 60 dB. For the first time in the Lepidoptera we demonstrate a close frequency match between auditory sensitivity and the power spectrum of the sound emitted by the same species.  相似文献

Self-assembled structures having a regular hollow icosahedral form (such as those observed for proteins of virus capsids) can occur as a result of biomineralization processes, but are extremely rare in mineral crystallites. Compact icosahedra made from a boron oxide have been reported, but equivalent structures made of synthetic organic components such as surfactants have not hitherto been observed. It is, however, well known that lipids, as well as mixtures of anionic and cationic single chain surfactants, can readily form bilayers that can adopt a variety of distinct geometric forms: they can fold into soft vesicles or random bilayers (the so-called sponge phase) or form ordered stacks of flat or undulating membranes. Here we show that in salt-free mixtures of anionic and cationic surfactants, such bilayers can self-assemble into hollow aggregates with a regular icosahedral shape. These aggregates are stabilized by the presence of pores located at the vertices of the icosahedra. The resulting structures have a size of about one micrometre and mass of about 1010 daltons, making them larger than any known icosahedral protein assembly or virus capsid. We expect the combination of wall rigidity and holes at vertices of these icosahedral aggregates to be of practical value for controlled drug or DNA release.  相似文献

This paper deals with the analysis of the number of tourists travelling to the Canary Islands by means of using different seasonal statistical models. Deterministic and stochastic seasonality is considered. For the latter case, we employ seasonal unit roots and seasonally fractionally integrated models. As a final approach, we also employ a model with possibly different orders of integration at zero and the seasonal frequencies. All these models are compared in terms of their forecasting ability in an out‐of‐sample experiment. The results in the paper show that a simple deterministic model with seasonal dummy variables and AR(1) disturbances produce better results than other approaches based on seasonal fractional and integer differentiation over short horizons. However, increasing the time horizon, the results cannot distinguish between the model based on seasonal dummies and another using fractional integration at zero and the seasonal frequencies. 诱导多能干细胞(i PSCs)是再生医学领域,尤其是细胞治疗和药物筛选研究中非常有吸引力的细胞来源.然而,再生医学需要对i PSCs进行快速、精准鉴别.在本研究中,我们开发了针对多能性生物标记物的抗体阵列,分别以胚胎干细胞(ESCs)和鼠成纤维细胞(MEF)裂解液作为阳性和阴性对照,应用快速且无需标记的表面等离激元共振成像(SPRi)技术对i PSCs裂解液中的多种抗原进行检测.每一种抗体都与i PSC裂解液中相应的抗原显示出特异性识别.这一结果表明,SPRi技术适合于检测i PSCs裂解液中的多种抗原,并具有通用性,利用SPRi技术可以用于对干细胞裂解液中生物标志物的高通量鉴别分析.  相似文献

Fraser syndrome is a recessive, multisystem disorder presenting with cryptophthalmos, syndactyly and renal defects and associated with loss-of-function mutations of the extracellular matrix protein FRAS1. Fras1 mutant mice have a blebbed phenotype characterized by intrauterine epithelial fragility generating serous and, later, hemorrhagic blisters. The myelencephalic blebs (my) strain has a similar phenotype. We mapped my to Frem2, a gene related to Fras1 and Frem1, and showed that a Frem2 gene-trap mutation was allelic to my. Expression of Frem2 in adult kidneys correlated with cyst formation in my homozygotes, indicating that the gene is required for maintaining the differentiated state of renal epithelia. Two individuals with Fraser syndrome were homozygous with respect to the same missense mutation of FREM2, confirming genetic heterogeneity. This is the only missense mutation reported in any blebbing mutant or individual with Fraser syndrome, suggesting that calcium binding in the CALXbeta-cadherin motif is important for normal functioning of FREM2.  相似文献
