Defects in La_2CuO_4 and La_(1.86)Sr_(0.14)CuO_4 single crystals

La2CuO4 and La1.86Sr0.14CuO4 single crystals were obtained by traveling solvent floating zone method. There were five kinds of defects in these single crystals: cracks, inclusions, gas bubbles, unhomogeneous distribution of Sr2+, and substructures. CH3COOH aqueous solution was used to etch these single crystals, and the etch-pit density was calculated. The formation mechanism of these defects was discussed. It is suggested that the good preparation of raw materials and the stringent growth conditions play an important role in growing high quality single crystals.     

A new 3-D Gd–Cu heterometallic polymer [Gd_2Cu_3(bpy)_2-(ip)_6]·6H_2O with a non-interpenetrated α-Po net

A new 3-D porous Gd-Cu heterometallic polymer [Gd2Cu3(bpy)2(ip)6]·6H2O (1) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, H2ip = isophthalic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Compound 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1and displays a 3-D non-interpenetrated α-Po network with 1-D channels filled transversely by the hexa-nuclear chain-like (H2O)6. The EPR and thermal stability of 1 were investigated.     

Ultrastruktureller Nachweis von zwei Myofibrillentypen in den Muskelfasern des Rattenzwerchfells

Summary The ultrastructure of the diaphragm of the rat was examined with reference to the myofibrillar structure. In longitudinal sections, 2 types of myofibrils were identified, analogous to the image of myofibrils in frog twitch and slow fibres. The thin muscle cells of the rat diaphragm contain myofibrils corresponding to the myofibrils of frog slow muscle, the thick muscle cells contain myofibrils corresponding to the myofibrils of frog twitch muscle cells. The significance of these types of muscle fibres of the rat diaphragm will be discussed in the light of physiological properties in a further study.

Constant oxygen enhancement ratio during the mitotic cell cycle in X-rayedDrosophila melanogaster embryos

Zusammenfassung Drosophila-Embryonen zeigen eine mit dem Ablauf der Furchungsteilungen korrelierte Variation der Strahlenempfindlichkeit. Für alle Mitosestadien wurde eine Sauerstoff-Erhöhungsrate von rund 2 festgestellt. Dies zeigt, dass eine vermutete atmungsbedingte Variation des Sauerstofftgehaltes in den Zellen nicht am Zustandekommen der empfindlichkeitsvariation beteiligt ist.     

MUL TIPLICATIVE NOISE IN TRANSIENT LASER INTENSITY

Effects of multiplicatioe noise in transient laser intensity are investigated theoretically. Analytic solutions are calculated through a reduced Fokker-Planck equation and the results with different pump parameters are discussed.
