Summary Ro 4-1778/1 (1-(p-Chlorphenethyl)-6,7-dimethoxy-2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline) showed in pharmacological tests distinct analgetic effects similar to those of codeine as well as some spasmolytic activity resembling that of papaverine, whereas its side effects were absent or at least considerably less pronounced than those known for codeine.

Summary In view of the chronic interstitial nephritis observed in man after years of abuse of phenacetin-containing analgesics, rats were subjected to oral loading-tests with Saridon and its active components. It was not possible, however, to induce interstitial nephritis experimentally. Trials with Saridon will be continued on rats having undergone additional renal loading-tests and in which renal damage has been previously induced.

Barremian) from southern Ticino, and the small organisms (Nannoconi incertae sedis) of which it mainly consists, have been examined in the electron microscope.The applied technique of preparing the limestone for investigation is described.Furthermore, a few remarks are made concerning the stratigraphic value of Nannoconus.

Förderung der gastrointestinalen Resorption von Heparin durch Calciumbindungsmittel

Summary The gastroenteral absorption of heparin in rats as measured by clearing-factor activation is considerably enhanced by simultaneous administration of a number of calcium-binding substances as ethylendiamine-tetraacetate, sodium citrate, ion-exchangers, soaps and phosphates.Single oral administrations of heparin at the very high dose of 2 g/kg also lead to a maximum activity of the clearing factor.A binding of calcium ions seems to enable the intestinal absorption of heparin in all these cases.     

Beeinflussung tierexperimenteller Leukopenien durch Vitamin A

Summary In high doses synthetic vitamin A proved to have a leucopoetic effect on the experimental leucopenia of rats. In the treatment of the succinylsulfathiazol leucopenia vitamin A does not equal the effect of folic acid, in the treatment of the milk leucopenia however it is superior to the latter.     

Significance of fixation procedure for preservation of arteries

Zusammenfassung Die Morphologie der Aortenwand, die Ultrastruktur, des Endothels und der nach Endothelentfernung haftenden Leucocyten wurden am besten erhalten durch Perfusionsfixation mit einem Druck von ca. 80 mm Hg. Demgegenüber führten Immersionsfixation und Fixation in situ durch Auftropfen von aussen zu Einengung des Lumens, wellenförmigen elastischen Lamellen, teilweiser arkadenförmiger Ablösung von Endothelzellen, Kontraktion von Endothelzellen sowie zu Lyse von Leukocyten, die nach Endothelentfernung an der Gefässwand haften.
