Measurement of orientation responses of caterpillars indoors and outdoors on a grid

Generalized invexity-type conditions in constrained optimization

This paper defines a new class of generalized type I functions, and obtains Kuhn-Tucker necessary and sufficient conditions and duality results for constrained optimization problems in the presence of the aforesaid weaker assumptions on the objective and constraint functions involved in the problem.     

Optimality Conditions and Duality for Nondifferentiable Multiobjective Semi-Infinite Programming Problems with Generalized(C,α,ρ,d)-Convexity

This paper obtains sufficient optimality conditions for a nonlinear nondifferentiable multiobjective semi-infinite programming problem involving generalized(C,α,ρ,d)-convex functions.The authors formulate Mond-Weir-type dual model for the nonlinear nondifferentiable multiobjective semiinfinite programming problem and establish weak,strong and strict converse duality theorems relating the primal and the dual problems.     

Location of quality-control stations in manufacturing systems: A simulated annealing approach

Quality is the hallmark of a competitive product. It is necessary to use inspection stations to check product quality and process performance. In this paper, we are concerned with the problem of location of inspection stations in a manufacturing system. A simulated annealing approach is developed to determine the location of inspection centers resulting in a minimum expected total cost in a multistage serial production system. The total cost includes inspection, processing, and scrapping costs at each stage of the production process. A penalty cost is also included in it to account for a defective item which is not detected by the inspection scheme. A set of test examples is solved using a simulated annealing algorithm.     

Hot-corrosion behavior of Cr_2O_3–CNT-coated ASTM-SA213-T22 steel in a molten salt environment at 700°C

The present work investigates the hot-corrosion behavior of carbon nanotube(CNT)-reinforced chromium oxide coatings on boiler steel in a molten salt(Na_2SO_4–60 wt%V_2O_5) environment at 700°C under cyclic conditions. The coatings were deposited via the high-velocity oxygen fuel process. The uncoated and coated steel samples were subjected to hot corrosion in a silicon tube furnace at 700°C for 50 cycles. The kinetics of the corrosion behavior was analyzed through mass-gain measurements after each cycle. The corrosion products were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis techniques. The results revealed that uncoated steel suffered spallation of scale because of the formation of nonprotective Fe_2O_3 scale. The coated steel samples exhibited lower mass gains with better adhesiveness of oxide scale with the steel alloy until the end of exposure. The CNT-reinforced coatings were concluded to provide better corrosion resistance in the hot-corrosion environment because of the uniform dispersion of CNTs in the coating matrix and the formation of protective chromium oxides in the scale.     

Orientation ofPapilio demoleus larvae to coloured solutions

Summary The present work compares the taxis ofPapilio demoleus larvae to different coloured solutions. The larval positive taxis, i.e., attraction, is maximum for yellow colour and declines with the increase or decrease in the wavelength of maximum light transmission. Red and bluish-green colours repel the larvae.     

Weight changes in mice after intrauterine treatment with MPG (2-mercaptopropionylglycine) against I131 irradiation

Summary MPG, administered in utero against I¹³¹-irradiation, protected young mice to some extent from loss of body weight at different postnatal intervals. Increase in the tissue weight induced by the internal emitter was enhanced at 6 weeks of age by the drug.Acknowledgment.
