Summary For the aromatic molecules benzene, naphthalene, and anthracene a relation is found between dipole moment and dissociation constant of the hydroxy compounds and the carboxylic acids on the one hand and the-electron density at the respective carbon atom in the unsubstituted molecule on the other hand. The following statement can be made:—The-electron density at a carbon atom of these aromatic systems is found to increase with its positive character.
